The APN is self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency.The APN in the Hematology/Oncology Practice utilizes critical judgment in the performance of comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of patients diagnosed with a variety of hematologic or oncologic diseases. The APN practice will promote wellness through conducting research, providing education and works autonomously as well as in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants. Qualifications A current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in the State of New Jersey is required. Completion of an educational program which is designed and conducted to prepare graduates to practice as an NP/APN with a master’s degree in nursing and eligible for certification by a national certifying body. Order and arrange transfer of residents to acute care facilities as indicated, including provision of written consultation and telephone call to receiving ED. Provide end-of-shift sign out to nursing and medical staff. Make rounds to ensure that all residents are seen at least one time per shift.
