Director of Nursing (DON) Director of Nursing (DON) Job Summary: The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall clinical operations of the Skilled Nursing Facility, ensuring the highest level of quality care, regulatory compliance, and staff management. The DON oversees the nursing department and coordinates with other departments to achieve excellence in resident care, staff development, and facility performance. Director of Nursing (DON) Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff in delivering high-quality care to residents. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies. Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures in accordance with current standards of practice and regulatory requirements. Supervise, train, and evaluate nursing personnel, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Monitor resident care plans and ensure they are updated regularly and reflect current needs. Participate in facility inspections and audits, including preparation and follow-up for state surveys. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive resident care. Monitor infection control practices and implement corrective actions as needed. Manage nursing department budget, including staffing, supplies, and equipment. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records in accordance with facility standards. Serve as a liaison between residents, families, physicians, and facility staff. Director of Nursing (DON) Qualifications: Current RN license in the state of NY. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing management experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility. Knowledge of state and federal regulatory guidelines (CMS, OBRA, etc.). Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage and motivate a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment. CPR certification required. Serve as an advocate for the residents and staff under his/her direction. Foster high standards of resident care through the provision and promotion of diligent orientation and continuing education efforts, adequate levels of nursing personnel, properly prepared nursing supervisors and managers, and current policies and procedures. The ability to assess, analyze and develop systems within the nursing department. Must have previous experience as a Director in Long Term Care and possess strong supervision and leadership skills. MDS Coordinator RN Job description Oversees accurate and thorough completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS), Care Area Assessments (CAA's) and Care Plans, in accordance with current federal and state regulations and guidelines that govern the process Demonstrates an understanding of MDS requirements related to varied payers including Medicare, Managed Care and Medicaid Facilitates the Care Management Process engaging the resident, IDT and family in timely identification and resolution of barriers to discharge resulting in optimal resident outcomes and safe transition to the next care setting Analyzes QI/QM data in conjunction with the Director of Nursing Services to identify trends on a monthly basis. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of Utilization Review and Triple Check. Serves on, participates in, and attends various other committees of the Facility/Community (e.g., Quality Assessment and Assurance) as required, and as directed by their supervisor and Administrator.
