Reporting to the Director of Obstetrical Nursing, you’ll provide safe, high-quality, family-centered care while collaborating with physicians, midwives, and a dedicated team of professionals. Every shift brings the opportunity to make a lifelong impact. What You’ll Do Provide labor support, fetal monitoring, and comprehensive care during labor and birth. Circulate for cesarean section deliveries and assist in emergent situations. Care for mothers and newborns in the immediate postpartum period. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for mothers and infants. Educate and empower patients and families throughout their childbirth journey. Support continuity of care across Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and Special Care Nursery when needed. Supervise and delegate care to support staff, ensuring safe and effective practice. Document all patient care clearly and accurately according to policy. Participate in quality improvement, unit projects, and ongoing professional education. Advocate for patients’ rights, privacy, and dignity in every interaction. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Current Massachusetts RN license. BLS certification within 3 months of hire. NRP certification within 6 months of hire. Fetal monitoring certification and ACLS preferred. Previous labor and delivery experience strongly preferred. Excellent assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills. Ability to work collaboratively, stay organized, and respond quickly in fast-paced situations. Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA) provides evaluation and management to urgent care clinic patients. This work will be in collaboration with the supervising urgent care physician involved in the patient’s care. The supervising physician of record will be an Emerson Practice Associate (EPA) physician for purposes of establishing a collaboration agreement for licensure and prescribing status as well as periodic performance reviews. The degree of autonomy of the NP/PA’s daily practice will depend on the details of each particular clinic and the preferences and skills of the NP/PA. The NP/PA works in accordance with Hospital privileges. Minimum Qualifications Education Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Master’s or Doctoral Degree required Experience Previous experience in an Urgent care and/or emergency department environment strongly preferred. At least 5 years experience working as a PA or NP Licensure and/or Certification Current license as a Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant in Massachusetts required. National certification with recertification as required every six years (this is required for Massachusetts licensure) Must be able to attain and maintain privileges at Emerson Hospital as Nurse Practitioner.
