Brief Overview Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, Ophthalmology Key Responsibilities: Providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients in Pediatric Ophthalmology. Obtaining comprehensive patient histories and performing physical exams for both new and return patients. Performing pre-operative, post operative and urgent Ophthalmology evaluations in the Ophthalmology clinic. Assisting with procedures both in the clinic setting and in the operating room. Participates in multidisciplinary clinics and communicate effectively with all members of the team. Ordering necessary diagnostic tests, consultations and procedures and issuing appropriate prescriptions/medications. Actively participating in Department of Ophthalmology educational meetings and conferences. Working 40 hours per week: five 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday and will rotate primarily between Boston, Waltham, and Needham. Occasional shifts at our MEEI location as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: A Master of Physician Assistant Studies A Master of Science in Nursing Experience: Previous OR experience is preferred Prior Ophthalmology/Pediatric experience strongly preferred New grad PAs will be considered Licensure/ Certifications: A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (FNP or PNP) If a Nurse Practitioner, must also have a Surgical First Assistant certification. bchAPP

Nurse Practitioner, Float Pool

Position Summary: We are looking for an Advanced Practice Nurse to work within our Float Pool. The Role requires integration of knowledge, research, and experience to promote excellence in patient care and improve outcomes. Communicates and collaborates clearly and concisely with the health care team; appropriately consult and utilize resources to meet the patient's needs; and actively participate in patient discharge planning, Requires flexibility, and excellent clinical, organizational and communication skills. Advanced practice role, responsible for collaborative management of patients within inpatient medical surgical, critical care, or hybrid (ambulatory and inpatient medical/surgical) care neighborhoods. Role requires integration of knowledge, research, and experience to promote excellence in patient care and improve outcomes. (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years). Key Responsibilities: Performing a complete history and physical exam and interprets findings. Diagnosing and managing common clinical problems of the identified patient population. Planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment plan in an interdisciplinary manner. Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies and therapeutic interventions necessary to augment the patient's physical findings and treatment plan. Communicating these findings to the health care team, patients, and families. Participating in discharge planning with the health care team. Writing orders, prescriptions, and progress notes in the patient's medical record. Creating patient discharge summaries and communicating to the primary care providers. Participating in the daily patient care rounds, interdisciplinary conferences, and teaching activities of the service. Communicating the patient's condition and plan of care to the patient and family. Engaging in health teaching and counseling with the patient and their family in collaboration with the health care team. Performing selected diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Participating in formal and informal teaching activities with staff nurses, physicians, interns and residents, and other members of the health care team. Communicating clearly and concisely with the health care team and appropriately consulting and utilizing resources to meet the patient's needs. Maintaining clinical competency and ongoing professional development through continuing education, professional activities, and self-evaluation. Working 36 hours per week with 50% day/night rotation and every third weekend. Float APRNs will not be required to work holidays. Position Summary/ Department Summary: Nurse Practitioner, Surgical and Procedural Areas in both Ambulatory and Inpatient settings. **This is a permanent flex role where the provider will be covering designated areas within Surgical and Procedural Areas.** Key Responsibilities: Assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients within ambulatory and inpatient surgical and procedural areas Ordering and interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic tests, inpatient rounds, performance of therapeutic procedures, consultation with other health care providers, coordination of care, referrals, prescription of medications, and follow up care including telephone updates, triage of complications and clinic visits on patients aged newborn to adult Coordination of admissions, discharges, and hospital transfers Working 20 hours per week; rotating days/evenings/weekends dependent on role being covered; 8-to-12-hour shifts.
