Urgent Team is looking for experienced Medical Assistants to join our team in Jackson, TN. JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant provides clinical care to patients in urgent care, occupational health, and workers’ compensation settings. Responsibilities include initial evaluations, x-ray testing, and preparing patients for provider evaluation by recording histories, vital signs, and documentation while recognizing acuity levels for appropriate intervention. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned. • Greet patients promptly and provide clear communication about next steps and wait times • Offer solutions to patient concerns and seek help in emergent or hazardous situations • Ensure timely follow-up for lab and x-ray results; execute follow-up calls with urgency • Support front desk staff with check-in and check-out procedures when needed • Accurately document vital signs, histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent details • Assist with patient transfers, procedures, and lab work under provider supervision • Prepare and shoot X-Rays, ensuring proper positioning, safety, radiation protection, and shielding • Complete all required visit documentation and maintain stocked, clean exam rooms • Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality standards • Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other clinical procedures as trained and directed WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE? Full-time team members work a rotating 36-40 hour/week schedule, consisting of 12-hour weekday shifts and every-other weekend. Our PRN (per diem) team members are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Responsibilities Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions Respond to all lab messages and call back requests Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures Maintain complete and accurate documentation Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
