Participates in opportunities of continuing education. Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication. Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School graduate or equivalent. Upon completion of the sterile technique and scrubbing didactic the Surgical Technologist Apprentice, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Surgical Technologist, will assist the surgeon during the operative procedure by maintaining inventory, passing instruments and supplies, and holding retractors. The apprentice will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served (newborn through geriatric). The goal of this program is to transition into a Surgical Technologist role after the apprenticeship, graduation and completion of the accredited Surgical Technologist program.
