In this role, the Transplant Nurse is vital in the delivery of patient care and in participation of the development of strategies to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction with service and cost effectiveness by decreasing length of stay and readmission rates in both Abdominal and Lung programs. This role is accountable to patients and families’ education, discharge preparation during inpatient pre/post-transplant phase of care, and scheduling of all pre-hospitalization medical procedures and appointments after discharge. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher required. For positions that are identified as difficult to fill, CNO may allow approval for hiring of candidates with Associates degree in nursing with equivalent experience in lieu of BSN or above. Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois. Minimum of 1 year acute care experience, hospital preferred. 1 year of Pediatric and behavioral experience strongly preferred. Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. Ability to effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians and hospital staff. Special certifications may be required by the department.
