Overview NaphCare is looking to hire a Full Time Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team of medical professionals in Hillsboro, Oregon, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Washington County Jail. Salary rates range from $135,720.00- $143,249.60 annually based on type of license, certification, shift, site needs, licensure, and experience. As a Correctional Nurse Practitioner (NP) , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with a range of medical conditions and chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, respond to emergencies, etc. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs. Responsibilities Job Duties / Responsibilities The Nurse Practitioner plays a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality care that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Conducting rounds, evaluating patients returning from off-site treatment Admitting and discharging patients from the facility Qualifications Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate) Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in Oregon Current DEA registration An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician Must possess and be able to maintain BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; AHA or American Red Cross, preferred Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening Experience / Skills Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services. The Nurse Practitioner typically remains responsible for the patient throughout the course of treatment, provides the physical examination, the diagnosis, and the health care plan, determines when the patient has recovered, and releases the patient. The Nurse Practitioner may refer the patient to a physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment, but retains responsibility for clinical management as well as any subsequent modification. Responsibilities Assesses the physical condition of a group of patients by performing physical examinations including ordering, interpreting and evaluating diagnostic tests and obtaining medical histories. Assumes ongoing responsibility for each patient from discovery of the disorder to recovery. Formulates the medical plan and prognosis based on patient's condition. Consults with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence. Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy. Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents. Participates in quality improvement activities. Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance. Establishes and documents the health care plan and prognosis, maintaining records of each case and evaluates the effectiveness of the plan. Initiates drug therapy, taking full responsibility for such therapy. Consults with a physician prior to implementing the therapy, as necessary. Determines when the patient has recovered from the disorder and releases the patient. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. Experience: Clinical experience requirements are dependent upon the specific position, and include a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field. Overview Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, a Nurse Practitioner is involved in the care of individuals who are undergoing treatment for cancer or other related diagnoses. Through a team-based-care approach, they will educate patients on treatments, provide post-operative care, build patient relationships through long term follow-up clinics, and provide other general support.
