Evaluates pregnancy risk and offer prevention as appropriate (which may be in conjunction with the Emergency Department physician); obtains informed consent as needed. 5. Evaluates and treats prophylactically for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) as per protocol and as indicated, which may be in conjunction with Emergency Department physician. 6. Assesses, documents, and seeks care for injuries noted on forensic exam and reports any findings that may require immediate medical intervention to Emergency Department staff/physicians and BSCC Medical Director and refers patient to Emergency Room physician for further evaluation and care as warranted. 7. Performs medical exams of children entering the foster care system. 8. Provides crisis intervention and ongoing support and education to victims and support persons throughout treatment; appropriately refer victims for immediate and follow-up medical care and/or counseling. 9. Provides discharge instructions, follow-up medical care options and referrals, which may include Victims of Violent Crime Compensation. 10. Schedules and performs medical follow-up as per protocol and as needed. 11. Participates in peer review, process improvement and quality review. 12. Maintains annual competencies to conduct forensic evidentiary examinations. 13. Provides expert testimony in court when indicated/subpoenaed. 14. Attends monthly Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings with law enforcement, prosecutors and Child Protective Services. 15. Performs other duties as assigned.
