The Department of Pediatrics, School Health Initiative has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in various school locations in Miami Dade County. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) administers nursing care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, and ensures the health, comfort, and safety of patients. The incumbent provides quality care to designated patients and takes on various responsibilities, such as participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, as well as cooperating with the members of the nursing and medical staff and other hospital departments. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Collects patient assessment data and notifies appropriate nurse of actual or potential problems and needs on an ongoing basis. Administer medications, and treatments, and coordinate care plans for students with medical needs, documenting in clinic databases as necessary. Ensure vaccination compliance and make appropriate communication with parents/guardians on required health matters. Maintain clinic inventory, assist with medical supply preparation and orders, discarding expired supplies, adhering to infection control standards. Coordinate mandated health screenings and inform caregivers of results. Consistently collaborate with school staff and team leaders to promote health, safety, and effective care delivery. Ensure a clean and organized clinic environment and report any equipment or facility issues to the appropriate department, ensuring communication with leadership. Participate in school events and/or team conferences, with some taking place after school and/or on weekends. Assists with the preparation of medical supplies, documentation, and communication needed in collaboration with student RNs, APRNs, or MDs.
