Overview The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is an important member of the patient care team, supporting patients, nurses and also overall unit functioning. The CNA is responsible for helping create and maintain a safe, healing environment for our patients, and a healthy working environment for the care team. The CNA is expected to perform duties autonomously and also at the direction of the RN. The CNA reports to the Director of Patient Services. Monitors patient intake and output and notifies RN of abnormal increases or decreases. Documents all findings accurately and in a timely manner. Ensures all patient safety interventions are in place at all times - such as keeping call light and patient belongings within reach of patient; bed/chair alarms are on and functioning; and/or all other patient specific interventions as directed by the RN Assists RN to answer call lights quickly and determines how best to assist a patient. Rounds frequently on patients, assisting as needed. Ensures patient whiteboards are complete and updated. Assists the team in keeping patient belongings safe and accounted for. Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral part of the patient care team. The RN assists in the delivery of high quality, individualized patient care. The RN autonomously practices within the scope of RN licensure as defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing, and the Nurse Practice Act.
