General Information: Job title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Schedules Available: PRN/as needed; required to work a minimum of 1 shift every 6 weeks Position Summary: The Registered Nurse position is responsible for coordinating the nursing care of patients presenting to the Emergency Department ranging in age from pediatric to geriatric, who may present at any point on the continuum from illness to wellness. Performs all aspects of direct patient care and works with other disciplines/ancillary services in the care they provide. Position Responsibilities: Plans, implements and evaluates all levels of patient care. Performs age appropriate assessments and provides safe and effective care to all ages. Performs triage according to the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) 5 level triage process. Documents, using medical terminology, and maintains an ED record that is medically and legally acceptable, reflective of all nursing care provided and the patient's response to the care given. Collaborates with all providers, peers, ancillary department and outside agencies to provide efficient, cost effective, optimum patient care. Coordinates the care needs of multiple patients. Able to prioritize patient care to ensure patient needs are met in a timely fashion, and that quality care is delivered and the patient flow is enhanced. Verbally communicates patient needs in a concise, reasoned fashion. The RN is able to advocate for the patients under her care through the use of communication with providers, peers and ancillary departments. This may include using the chain of command when needed. Actively participates in developing own professional goals. Completes all required education, audits, and in-services in allotted time frame. Assesses patient and family knowledge and discharge needs and provides for same. Monitors life support and automated technical equipment, performs routine and complex treatments including medication administration and emergency resuscitation protocols. Inserts and safely administers IV fluids, blood and blood products, and other parenteral fluids. Responds to crisis in a calm, efficient manner, directing others concisely. Uses delegation appropriately. Complies with legal consent, transfer protocols, and other legislative requirements that preserve patient rights and ensure appropriateness of care. Able to rapidly solve and deliver calm, efficient care in a high stress situation. Maintains equipment and supplies. Makes sure all check lists are completed, supplies are put away and rooms are stocked as delegated before leaving each shift. Participates in providing educational experiences for pre-hospital emergency providers and other students. Demonstrated proficiency in regards to the computer documentation of patient cares and any other related computerized patient information/documentation. Performs all other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: Two-year degree in nursing required. Four-year degree preferred. Must hold and maintain nursing license. RNs with an active Compact Licensure are to obtain a Wisconsin RN license within 90 days of relocation. BLS within 1 month of hire, ACLS & PALS within 1 year of hire, TNCC or ATCN within 3 years of hire, ENPC preferred, NRP encouraged. Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Intermediate proficiency with computers is required Comprehensive nursing skills and knowledge of equipment. Thorough understanding of triage. Understanding of lab procedures and equipment. Strong quantitative and analytical competency. Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

Job Summary The mission of the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is to support the health and wellness center’s clinical and clerical operations. As directed by the provider and Clinical Operations Manager, the MA assists the provider and performs appropriate tests and procedures. The CMA is responsible for administrative tasks for the health and wellness center and may assist the Patient Advocate in employee/patient engagement and outreach. This position is for 8 hours per week. Wednesdays only: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Essential Duties And Responsibilities Clinical: Interviews patients and measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, BMI calculation, pulse oximeter and records information in the patient’s electronic medical record. Performs clinical procedures including, but not limited to: injections, Electrocardiography (EKG), routine U/A, dipstick, capillary blood draw, Cholestech, Glucometer, and other medical tests and treatments under the direction of the provider. Proficient in spirometry venous labs draws, centrifuge Dispense medications as directed by the physician. Proficient in the use and maintenance of Automated Eternal Defibrillator (AED) Prepares treatment rooms and patients for examination Cleans and sterilizes instruments as appropriate Clerical: Performs administrative tasks, completes appropriate forms, and manages the front desk/check in of patients Answers phones/phone triage and scheduling appointments Responsible for compliance and regulatory reporting Maintain clinic and patient records and telephone encounters Inventories and orders medical supplies, materials, and medications Follow up with center patients who miss appointments Schedule external appointments/referrals and make follow-up phone calls to patients regarding scheduling Ensure completion of all services ordered by the physician such that all reports, consult notes, and follow ups are in the chart for the physician to review Under the direction of the Patient Advocate, periodically assists with engagement/outreach functions Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required: High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred) Active and unrevoked certification such as RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or NCRMA certification Candidates who do not possess Medical Assistant Certification must obtain Certification within 6 months of employment and have graduated from an accredited Medical Assisting program and twelve months of direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting. Current BLS certification through American Heart Association valid for at least 90 days after start date Knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software, and Electronic medical records Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly Knowledge of HIPAA confidentiality requirements Work Environment & Physical Requirements This job primarily operates in a medical office environment and is required to interact with patients for the majority of the workday. The physical demands to perform the essential functions of this job are: Effective communication, mobility, ability to operate office equipment and travel intermittently throughout the day. Must be able to remain in a stationary position at their work area for prolonged periods of time. Employee will occasionally be required to lift office products and supplies up to 20-30 pounds. POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This role is considered full-time and non-exempt. Evening and weekend work may be required depending on the schedule of the individual health and wellness center. TRAVEL Infrequent, domestic travel may be required and should be expected to be less than 20% of the position’s overall responsibilities.
