Summary The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Critical Care Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, is seeking a full-time Instructor Faculty for the position of Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. This position offers a unique experience in a high-volume Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for an individual who wishes to pursue a career in Pediatric Critical Care. Texas Children's Hospital is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the United States, comprised of 170 intensive care beds spread across four campuses and is the affiliated hospital of Baylor College of Medicine. The primary clinical site for this position is at Texas Children's Hospital, Medical Center Campus in Houston. The Division of Critical Care Medicine, in the Department of Pediatrics, is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of attending critical care physicians, advanced practice providers (Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants), postdoctoral fellows, and research support personnel committed to the care of patients suffering from a life-threatening illness or injury. Job Duties Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations. Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. The Clinical Nurse on G18 Stem Cell Transplantation & Cellular Therapy Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Summary This position provides advanced care to patients in a clinical (outpatient) and hospital (inpatient) settings in an area of specialization under the direction of the physicians of the Heart Failure, LVAD, and Heart Transplant Team. This position is only working at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in collaboration with all members of cardiology, including physicians, advanced level providers, nursing team, coordinators, and patients, in a manner that is effective, professional, and friendly. Job Duties Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations. Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient. Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician. Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care.
