This position is a vital part of the urgent care team that works under the direction of the Site Manager and works closely with the provider and other clinical staff. Must demonstrate discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision-making; and a customer service attitude. Collects identification and payor related documentation, conducts registration using EPIC workflow. Measures and documents vitals and communicates the resulting data to the consumer and provider, including temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, and pain level. Documents chief complaint, allergies, health history, and current medications accurately in EPIC for review by provider. Performs and documents laboratory testing and collections per provider orders and/or standard operating procedures, to include venipuncture with prior venipuncture competency check-off. Administers and documents oral and intramuscular medication using the appropriate medication verification workflow. Assists provider with procedures to include, but not limited to maintaining sterile field, laceration repair, I&D, and application of ortho-goods and assists with ortho-glass application. Performs diagnostic x-rays and documents completion of radiology examinations within the licensed scope of practice as ordered and verified by the provider. Performs x-rays following established protocols and utilizes appropriate exposure factors for care and safety. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures. Facilitates teamwork and staff development and staff satisfaction through planned group processes. Supervises nursing staff and/or other non-licensed medical or office support personnel. Responsible for recommending hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in coordination with the Clinic Manager. Ensures that new employees are oriented and trained appropriately. Actively works with Ambulatory leadership as the liaison for implementation and monitoring of established documentation standards in the medical record. May provide direct patient care. Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: (a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; (b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; (c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or (d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records. Performs other duties as assigned.
