The Concierge also performs patient registration, collection of payments, rooming, and patient discharge. All Concierges are expected to maintain competency and perform in all assigned positions on a rotating basis. This position is a vital part of the urgent care team that works under the direction of the Site Manager and works closely with the provider and other clinical staff. Must demonstrate discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision-making; and a customer service attitude. Collects identification and payor related documentation, conducts registration using EPIC workflow. Measures and documents vitals and communicates the resulting data to the consumer and provider, including temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, and pain level. Documents chief complaint, allergies, health history, and current medications accurately in EPIC for review by provider. Performs and documents laboratory testing and collections per provider orders and/or standard operating procedures, to include venipuncture with prior venipuncture competency check-off. Administers and documents oral and intramuscular medication using the appropriate medication verification workflow. Assists provider with procedures to include, but not limited to maintaining sterile field, laceration repair, I&D, and application of ortho-goods and assists with ortho-glass application. Performs diagnostic x-rays and documents completion of radiology examinations within the licensed scope of practice as ordered and verified by the provider. Performs x-rays following established protocols and utilizes appropriate exposure factors for care and safety. Ensures images and applicable communication are transferred to radiology group for overread and assures all images have a report on file in the medical record. Engages staff to promote evidence based practices within the unit. Monitors key performance indicators (KPI’s) and regulatory requirements for compliance. Provides bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve quality of patient care. Provides safe direct patient care in coordination with other staff when unit activity dictates. Provide guidance in emergency or complex situations. Use appropriate methodology consistently for communication handoffs. Evaluates the outcome of patient care, consults with others on the patient care team, and adjusts nursing care processes as needed to improve outcomes. Manages and monitors patient and staff safety initiatives and outcomes. Performs pro-active risk assessments to identify potential issues. Models the use of High Reliability Organization (HRO) tools in everyday practice and situations and encourages staff do the same. Assists with development and serves as a resource to others for new system and entity based initiatives. Support ongoing sustainment of these changes. Integrate the ACS guidelines for trauma patient care into the continuum of patient care. Coordinate efforts in the progressive growth of the trauma program with input into guideline development. Identify trauma patients, respond to trauma activations, and participate in patient rounds and performance improvement process as indicated. Apply knowledge of ACS guidelines to data maintenance/monitoring and performance improvement process.
