Collaborates and communicates with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to interpret, adjust, and coordinate patient care plan to ensure a plan of care that is patient centric with continuity of care. EVALUATION OF PATIENT CARE: Monitors patient care interventions, assesses therapies, evaluates outcomes, and intervenes. Conducts ongoing education for patients and their families to ensure optimal patient care from admission through transitions of care. Reassesses, evaluates and documents each patient’s response to the plan of care and adjusts the plan. Reports any events or near-misses in safety or compliance concerns via patient safety reporting mechanism Participates in analysis of safety events to prevent future occurrences Accurately documents and updates all treatment information in the patient’s electronic health record (EHR). Overview ANNUAL SALARY (DEPENDING ON SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): $166,400.00 - $197,600.00 SCOPE: The Lead RN is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations and nursing functions at their assigned infusion site. This position ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care by managing day-to-day workflows, assignments, and communication among nursing and support staff. The Lead RN acts as the on-site clinical resource and liaison between nursing staff, providers, and the Supervisor of Nursing Services to maintain alignment with organizational standards, policies, and objectives. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee daily site operations, including RN assignments, patient flow, and coordination of clinical activities to ensure safe, timely, and effective care. Monitor in-baskets, triage queues, and communication channels to ensure timely response and resolution. Oversee chart preparation and review (24-hour and 96-hour checks) for infusion patients to ensure readiness and accuracy. Manage hospital admissions coordination, ensuring communication between physicians and inpatient facilities. Oversee and supports INR/Coumadin Clinic workflows and patient monitoring, as applicable. Monitor infusion treatment compliance, safety, and documentation. Ensure compliance with REMS programs including Ultomiris and Touchprogram, coordinating staff education and tracking. Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and ordering of infusion-related equipment and supplies (BBraun pumps, Infusystem management and ordering). Serve as a clinical resource for nursing and MA staff, providing guidance on treatment protocols, patient safety, and clinical decision-making. Coordinate daily staffing and coverage to ensure adequate clinical support for patient volumes. Review and approves PTO requests and timecards for assigned staff, ensuring compliance with staffing needs and payroll accuracy. Provide input to the Supervisor, Nursing Services on staff performance and assist with employee reviews and coaching. Facilitate orientation and ongoing training for new and existing team members. Serve as a mentor and role model, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth. Conduct monthly safety checklists and ensure any findings are corrected and documented. Support and reinforces staff education on new drugs, updated chemotherapy or infusion protocols, and equipment procedures. Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and patient satisfaction at the site level and communicates recommendations to leadership. Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Act as a liaison between the site team and the Supervisor, Nursing Services, to maintain alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate with Physicians, Practice managers, and pharmacy staff to ensure coordinated care delivery. Support implementation of new programs, clinical protocols, or quality initiatives under direction from the Supervisor. Qualifications EDUCATION / TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN required, MSN preferred LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS / REGISTRATION: Current, active RN license in the State of California required BLS/CPR certification required Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) and ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy preferred EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience required, preferably in oncology or infusion therapy Minimum 2 years’ experience in an outpatient infusion center or related setting required Prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides day-to-day leadership and work direction to nursing and support staff within the assigned site. This includes new and annual competency sign-offs in collaboration with the Clinical Operations Team. The Lead MA is great with computers and technology and learns new software well. The Lead MA will work with the Practice Leader and the front desk to lessen the frequency of these problems. The Lead MA assists the Lead Front Office Coordinator in managing communications between the front and back office, with an emphasis in enhancing and improving communication as needed. The Lead MA will develop a schedule for cleaning and stocking the rooms on a regular basis. The Lead MA will assign specific MAs to the rooms and then periodically check the work of each MA. Supervision of medical assisting side work. The Lead MA with the clinician group and Practice Leader will develop a list of Medical Assisting side work that needs to be completed. This list will be checked on a weekly basis to ensure that the back office stays neat, tidy, and well-organized. The Lead MA will work with the Practice Leader and clinicians in order to determine the equipment and supplies that should be in each room and will develop a standard positioning for each item in the room thereby allowing for the rooms to be consistently set up. The Lead MA or his or her designee will assume responsibility for ordering all of the medical supplies, vaccines, and injectables needed for the practice from approved vendors. The Lead MA will work with the MA doing the ordering to ensure that a once-per-month ordering paradigm is developed. The Lead MA will ensure that supplies are ordered in such a way that the practice seldom is out of a needed item. When a clinician requests a change in room set up or additional supplies or equipment not previously stocked, the Lead MA will work with the Practice Leader on Budget development and approval on the items. The Lead MA and his or her designee will also check the emergency kit once per month to ensure there are no missing or expired meds or supplies.
