Breast Surgical Oncology Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary UCSF Cancer Services is launching outpatient medical oncology, surgical oncology and infusion services at the Berkeley outpatient center. The Nurse Practitioner will be part of a small team initiating outpatient practice and infusion services in a new regional cancer services center. The Nurse Practitioner will provide direct patient care as well as clinical support to infusion patients and nursing teams. Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Surgery & Department of Medicine and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique to inpatient or ambulatory patient services (for those APPs providing services both in the inpatient and ambulatory environments) this Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to the Berkeley Cancer Outpatient Practice and Infusion Center. This APP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their “scope of practice”. In general, the “scope of practice” includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, specialty protocols (e.g. chemotherapy), routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures. This position will provide outpatient care in approved age groups at UCSF Health settings. The APP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidence self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within the all UCSF medical center locations. UCSF Health requires all Advanced Practice Providers (APP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day. This ensures the NP is fully approved to practice and perform delegated procedures within UCSF Health policies. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate). Required Qualifications Two (2) years of recent experience or more related NP experience in breast surgical oncology Triage experience This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations and in varying schedules as outlined Preferred Qualifications Experience in clinical database entry Familiar with Epic/Apex electronic charting system Experience in Breast Plastic Surgery Experience in Adult Oncology Practice License/Certification California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position. Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work. Accepted Certifications for this position: Adult Outpatient (A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC) Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California. Complete a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner. Complete Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments. Current AHA BLS. State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
