Key Job Duties and Responsibilities The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for preventing and managing infections within the community. The ICN will report to the Director of Nursing. Participate in facility surveys and inspections made by authorized government agencies as requested. Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary. Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures. Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents. Review care plans daily to ensure that appropriate care is being rendered. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information. Implement and manage facility’s infection control protocols and standards Keep facility up to date on all CDC guidelines Stay up to date on the latest medical and clinical literature around the diagnosis, care, treatment, and risk factors associated with infectious diseases. Accurately document and report infection control data to appropriate sources. Provide infection control education to staff as directed. Manage testing for the facility. Provide oversight over all infection control procedures. Gathering and analyzing infection data, facts and trends to other healthcare personnel. Providing training and education to other medical professionals on prevention techniques. Develop plans to prevent patients from spreading diseases throughout the facility. Coordinator or leader of an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Program. Reinforcing the implementation of infection control practices as provided in the guidelines of the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). Bringing rates of infection down within a facility. Determining the origin of a particular pathogen by studying the makeup and composition of it. Partners with the Medical Director for Epidemiology/Infectious Disease to develop, implement and evaluate annual infection prevention goals and action. Assess patients’ condition, continuously monitoring changes in status, physical findings, vital signs, and coping skills ensuring appropriate care is given related to patients’ needs. Principal Accountabilities: Evaluate fetal heart tones, contractions, and vital signs, informing the doctor of progress and/or concerns as necessary to coordinate care and facilitate a delivery free of complications. Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed, dated order from an attending licensed physician. Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication treatment. Follow the Community’s procedures allowing residents to self-administer their medications. Assist the RCC/Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse in monitoring and documenting all aspects of such self-administering. Notify nurse when medication refills are needed. Be familiar with the meaning and usage of common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms relative to the administration of medications as used by the Community, pharmacists, and physicians. Use personal protective equipment when performing procedures that involve exposure to blood or body fluids. Seniors Helping Seniors® Kansas City Metro South is an in-home service that matches seniors who need help with seniors who want to help throughout the Kansas City area. We have a vibrant, fast-paced, and friendly office environment and are hoping to find the right person to join our expanding office team. Job Description Summary: The In Home Caregiver is a member of the team who works under the supervision of the Administrator to perform various personal care services as necessary to meet the client’s needs, according to the plan of care. The Caregiver is responsible for observing clients, reporting these observations, and documenting observations and care performed. Essential Job Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the Caregiver include, but are not limited to the following: Personal care tasks to include: Bathing Grooming Assist the client with dressing and undressing Assist the client with toileting activities Provide client with help walking and transferring Observe client’s physical, mental and emotional conditions Report any change to the supervisor Document observed changes Assist client in the self-administration of medication (medication reminder) Homemaker tasks to include: Preparation of meals Doing dishes Laundry Shopping Household chores Companionship and Socialization Transportation Report to the supervisor any incidents, problems, emergencies, or changes in client's condition Identifies and participates in performance improvement activities Assist in providing a safe environment and promote quality patient care through adherence to established policies, procedures and standards Use equipment properly and in a safe manner Maintain appropriate work records Qualifications: High school diploma, preferred Must consent to and pass a background screening process Have a baseline and annual TB test on record with Seniors Helping Seniors Kansas City Metro South Complete a self-reported health history Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills Ability to express spoken and/or written ideas in English Works as a team member
