Patient Care Nursing Assistants in the Presurgical U nit are responsible for performing various duties assisting in the care of adult, geriatric, and sometimes adolescent and newborn patients assigned by the registered nurse including the care of complex patients. Some of your daily responsibilities will include help ing with transporting patients from the floors, setting up patients in the pre-surgical area, cleaning carts, changing linens, monitoring blanket temperature and saline warmers and obtaining, delivering and returning blood products . You will have the opportunity to deliver exceptional care and enhance each patient’s experience. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) . Hours may vary from 5:00AM – 6:30PM . A caregiver who excels in this role will: Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer s or emergencies. Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc. Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, and height. Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck’s traction , removing urinary foley catheters and other therapeutic measures . Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/ utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner. Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge. Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly. Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area in timely manner. Document patient care in the electronic medical record. Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure. Position Overview: Majestic Care Nurses render skilled technical nursing services to residents within an assigned unit/wing in support of medical care as directed by the nursing management team; supervises CNAs to ensure a high quality of care is provided to all residents in that unit. Key Responsibilities: Initiate and lead team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans. Assess and document the residents’ condition and nursing needs. Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders. Administer medications, start IVs, and perform treatments for assigned residents and document that treatment as required by Majestic Care and local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel. Assist physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice Act. Report and record pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents. Coordinate nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments. Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in residents. Qualifications: Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Licensed as an RN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing. Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred but not required.
