Consistently follows hospital policy regarding verification of patient identification prior to obtaining specimen and ensures specimens are appropriately labeled with patient identifiers, date and time of collection and initials. Ensures lab charges and patient charges are completed and accurate on a daily basis either in the computer or on paper as indicated in the designated areas. Provides regular education to staff on trending issues, results of investigations/feedback on variances, etc. Participates in hospital processes and programs (i.e. CERT Rounding, Center of Excellence or Disease Specific Care Committees) and medical staff (i.e. Section Meetings) meetings, as needed. May be required to present data, if indicated. Required Education and Experience RN or LVN: Minimum 3-5 years experience in health care, with knowledge of medical terminology, basic anatomy, physiology, and disease processes. Must be able to lead teams, navigate a medical record, prepare basic reports, and have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
