Summary/Objective 

The Cancer Conference Facilitator is responsible for facilitating Tumor Conferences from the beginning to the end of the bi-monthly meeting. Ensures National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer and Commission on Cancer standards are being met. 

Essential Job Duties

  1. Identifies and selects breast and solid tumor cases to be presented in a timely manner for each Tumor Board.

  2. Prepare case summaries for each case being presented.

  3. Notifies Tumor Board members of meeting date and time and provides them with case presentation information.

  4. Complete and send out to all required providers case recommendations.

  5. Participates with community outreach programs and Health Fairs. 

  6. Mentors newly certified oncology data specialist and cancer registry assistant.

 

Required Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

1-3 years of related experience

Required License/Certifications

Current RN Licensure in the state of Texas

Oncology Data Specialist Certification

Maintain Chemotherapy/Biotherapy infusion certification card every 2 years. 2.Provide chemotherapy/biotherapy/infusion education as needed to patients r/t care needed and document education given in the EMR. 3.Maintain skills for starting peripheral IVs, accessing/flushing of mediports, accessing and providing dressing changes for PICC and central lines. 4.Perform patient assessments and assess patient toxicities prior to infusions and document assessment and toxicities in the EMR using pre and post infusion/chemotherapy questionnaires. 5.Assess nutrition via questionnaire in the EMR at the beginning of each new cycle of chemotherapy. Assess vital signs including, pain scale, fatigue and distress at each visit.
