Overview About the Role The primary purpose of the Critical Care Transport Team (CCTT) Staff Nurse is to safely move patients requiring PCU or ICU level of care within the University Hospital and Rutgers campus. The CCTT RN prioritizes transport requests based on acuity and workload logistics. The CCTT RN will utilize the Acuity Checklist for Critical Care Transport form to determine who will accompany the patient during transport and what equipment will be needed. The CCTT RN will require a thorough and complete SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment and Recommendation) report, in person, from the primary care PCU/ICU RN managing the patient. The CCTT RN will complete their tasks with compassionate consideration of the patient’s requests and those of their family. The CCTT RN will utilize the Inter Transport Patient Data Form to chart the appropriate data as it applies to the individual patient’s circumstances. Responsibilities What You’ll Do The RN demonstrates skill in using special equipment such as monitors, infusion pumps, O2 equipment, and ventilators. The RN is responsible for provision/maintenance of required emergency equipment. Recognizes and intervenes in emergency situations, i.e., contrast media reactions, loss of airway management and general changes in the patient’s condition by following approved policy guidelines and documentation of patient’s status and nursing interventions in the patient’s electronic medical record. Policies & Procedures: Contributes to the achievement of excellence in the department through the adherence to productivity, quality assurance, customer service, and code of conduct standards established by the department or organization. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that includes ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self-evaluation, leadership, and research. The APN is self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency. The APN in the Breast Imaging center provides critical nursing support to address patient education, clinical coordination, and continuity of care. The APN utilizes critical judgment in the performance of focused clinical evaluation, patient education, procedural support, and post-procedure follow-up. The APN serves as an expert in breast health, guiding patients through diagnostic imaging, biopsies, and high- risk surveillance, while ensuring timely communication and care coordination. The APN ensures high-quality, patient-centered breast health care. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Conducts focused pre-procedure assessments, including breast history, risk factors, and relevant medical background. Performs clinical breast exams for high-risk and diagnostic patients. Assists radiologists during breast imaging procedures and biopsies, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Manages local anesthesia preparation, wound care, and patient comfort during procedures. Provides comprehensive pre- and post-procedure care, including follow-up calls to monitor recovery and address concerns. Tracks biopsy results, communicates outcomes to patients, and coordinates next steps with the care team. Facilitates referrals to breast surgeons, oncology, or genetics for abnormal or high-risk findings. Responds to clinical emergencies in accordance with established protocols. Prepares and ensures completion of consents and documentation for breast imaging procedures. Reviews and enters pathology results in PenRad and EPIC for tracking and communication. Coordinates follow-up care for BIRADS 0, 4, 5, and 6 cases and other high-risk patients.
