Job Summary and Qualifications As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organizations vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes. What you will do in this role: Assess the patients condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patients medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication. Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them. Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patients medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology. Clinical Nurse RN - PRN (GI Lab) 101 Truman Medical Center Job Location University Health Truman Medical Center Kansas City, Missouri Department GI Lab UHTMC Position Type Part time Work Schedule 7:30AM - 4:00PM Hours Per Week 4 Job Description A Registered Nurse who assists in the assessment and care of patients undergoing gastroenterology procedures, including pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post procedural care. Assists in endoscopic procedures as well as other GI procedures to include liver biopsies, anorectal and esophageal manometry, 24 hour ph, pill cam and paracentesis. Provides moderate sedation if needed. Follow established standards and practices under the direction of a gastroenterologist. Sets up equipment for procedural being performed, obtains and records patient data, and assesses patient during these procedures and delivers therapy. The Registered Nurse is required to be a part of team on call for emergency procedures after hours, weekends, and holidays. Initiates emergency interventions as appropriate. Ensures appropriate care, cleaning and maintenance of all equipment. Minimum Requirements Bachelor of Science in Nursing or ADN. Current state of Missouri license as a Registered Nurse. Current BCLS and ACLS. Ability to perform independently in critical situations. Minimum of 2 years critical care or related experience (ICU, CCU, GI, PACU or Emergency Department)
