This is a Full-Time or Part-Time Night shift opening. This position currently qualifies for a NEW hourly wage differential in addition to standard shift and holiday differentials. Our full range of emergency care services include: Level I Trauma Center uniquely equipped to serve patients who have encountered any type of trauma. Level I Vascular Emergency Program, delivering urgent care for sudden aortic syndromes, including thoracic (chest) aortic aneurysms and/or dissections, and ruptured/symptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysms. IU Health LifeLine ground and air transportation, operating the most advanced mobile intensive care units in the industry. A nationally recognized Medical Toxicology Program and the Indiana Poison Center, the only center in the state certified by the American Association of Poison Control Centers. An Intensive Diagnostic Treatment Unit, for extended observation of patients who are too sick to go home, but not ill enough to be admitted. Fewer than one in six emergency facilities in the country have this unique service. Nursing skills gained on this unit: Time management in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail Critical thinking skills Foundation of nursing skills Qualifications Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care 1. Completes an initial, comprehensive and ongoing comprehensive assessment of patient and family to determine hospice needs. Provides a complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illness(es). 2. Provides professional nursing care by utilizing all elements of nursing process. 3. Assesses and evaluates patient’s status by: A. Writing and initiating plan of care B. Regularly re-evaluating patient and family/caregiver needs C. Participating in revising the plan of care as necessary 4. Initiates the plan of care and makes necessary revisions as patient status and needs change. 5. Uses health assessment data to determine nursing diagnosis. 6. Develops a care plan that establishes goals, based on nursing diagnosis and incorporates palliative nursing actions. Includes the patient and the family in the planning process. 7. Initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician in the physician’s plan of care. 8. Counsels the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs. 9. Provides health care instructions to the patient as appropriate per assessment and plan. 10. Assists the patient with the activities of daily living and facilitates the patient’s efforts toward self-sufficiency and optional comfort care. 11. Your Role & Responsibilities Provide comprehensive care to seniors in accordance with clinical standards. Collaborate daily with your care team to ensure coordinated, high-quality care. Manage referrals, hospital/SNF coordination, DME, and home health services. Participate in daily huddles. CAs tend to lead the huddles Document care accurately and efficiently with support from quality-based coders. Participate in on-call rotation and support growth initiatives at your center. Ensure compliance with all licensing and accreditation requirements. Use your skills to make an impact This is a Float Nurse Practitioner PRN position that will require travel between clinics in the Indianapolis Market. Mileage will be reimbursed for all travel outside of your home base clinic . What We’re Looking For Required: Master’s Degree in Nursing with completion with board certification. Active, unrestricted NP license in the state of practice. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for value-based care and integrated team-based models. Basic computer proficiency (EMR, email, etc.). Preferred: Experience in value-based care, primary care or Medicare Advantage settings. General Statement of Duties: The Registered Nurse PPOP PACU provides nursing care and service during the preoperative and postoperative periods, integrating and making nursing judgments pertaining to the patient’s condition on a routine and emergency basis. The position oversees the supervision of all non-licensed personnel, while also receiving direction from Physicians. Essential Duties: Monitors and assesses patient condition and reports any unusual symptoms, occurrences or discrepancies to manager and appropriate Physicians. Completes treatments and procedures as ordered and assigned by the Physician, consistent with patient complexity and commensurate with the skill, knowledge, and training of the individual. Provides care safely, with adequate quality, quantity, and timeliness and according to applicable standards. Admits patients to all areas within pre and post-operative and post-anesthesia services, and receives and reviews pre post-operative report. Sets-up, operates and monitors the use of various systems, equipment and instrumentation required for the care of patients. Reviews and initiates Physician’s orders, administers medication, parenteral fluids and treatment as needed. Provides instruction, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed. Distributes educational material as appropriate. Maintains medication and nursing documentation within the patient record. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and development levels of patients served.
