This is a Full-Time or Part-Time Night shift opening. This position currently qualifies for a NEW hourly wage differential in addition to standard shift and holiday differentials. More details about this differential will be provided during the interview process.

  • Level I Trauma Center uniquely equipped to serve patients who have encountered any type of trauma. 
  • Level I Vascular Emergency Program, delivering urgent care for sudden aortic syndromes, including thoracic (chest) aortic aneurysms and/or dissections, and ruptured/symptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysms. 
  • IU Health LifeLine ground and air transportation, operating the most advanced mobile intensive care units in the industry. 
  • A nationally recognized Medical Toxicology Program and the Indiana Poison Center, the only center in the state certified by the American Association of Poison Control Centers. 
  • An Intensive Diagnostic Treatment Unit, for extended observation of patients who are too sick to go home, but not ill enough to be admitted. Fewer than one in six emergency facilities in the country have this unique service.

Qualifications  

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Patient Clinical Navigator RN

Job Summary The Patient Navigator is a Registered Nurse who monitors the interdisciplinary components of inpatient programs to ensure consistency with the overall strategic plan of the hospital. This position serves as the primary resource for patients and their health care partners in the navigation of the health care experience for medical health issues. Job Responsibilities Assist medical and support staff with communications and education of patients and their families. Provide case management services for all physicians as necessary. Collaborate with and serve as a resource for multi-disciplinary departments and provide expertise and guidance as needed for patients. Maintain relevant policies and procedures, patient education materials, outcomes data collection, quality improvement efforts and deliver staff education with a focus on patient care and safety. Collaborate with providers and marketing in the development and delivery of educational sessions, community events and patient symposiums. Provide education to patients and families regarding their hospital stay and discharge instructions. Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians' offices and nursing units for delivery of care. Contact and follow patients throughout their plan of care, ensuring compliance with hospital practices and procedures, responding promptly and thoroughly to questions and clarification of medical terminology, etc. Triages concerns, received through both formal and information reporting, to the appropriate resource for resolution, in a professional and timely manner for follow up. May provide direct patient care (as needed) which would require fulfillment of the staff nurse position, maintenance of all required licenses and certifications, and completion of annual skills assessment.
