Job Title: Medical Assistant Reports To: Center Manager Summary: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician. Is able to keep up with the workflow of the Exer environment; faces tasks and challenges with energy and passion Pursues activities with focus and drive, defines work in terms of success, and can be counted on to complete goals Adherence to standards of business conduct and compliance Major Responsibilities: Interviews patients and measures vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height; records information on patients' charts Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations Drapes patient with coverings and positions instruments and equipment Hands instruments and materials to doctor, as directed Cleans and sterilizes instruments Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests Inputs data into computer to maintain office and patient records Assists doctor with charting Conducts hart auditing, CPT, and ICD-9 reviews Performs venipunctures, EKG's, vital signs, blood draws, and injections Preps patient for examination and treatment, and assists during minor office procedures Prepares exam and treatment rooms (instrument preparation and sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, and filing) Requirements: Must hold a Medical Assistant Diploma Must have experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs, and IM injections Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced work environment Must have a neat and professional appearance Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills Working Conditions: Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
