Cardiology Job Description

This Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position is a full-time role located primarily at: St. Luke's East.  The primary patient population is adult. This role is clinic only seeing general cardiology patients and patients with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). No inpatient rounding. No weekends or holidays. Monday-Friday, 4x10 hour shifts, 7:30am-5:30pm. Variable day schedule.

The employee will be responsible for the medical management of the Cardiology patient population within the scope of an Advanced Practice Provider. The term Advanced Practice Provider encompasses Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The employee will have successfully completed a Master’s degree (or higher level of educational program) and have met the requirements for the respective State Board(s) (Missouri and Kansas). The APP will hold and maintain a national certification and licensure as required by State Boards and Saint Luke’s Health System, as well as other certification as obligatory for this role.

Cardiology disease processes the APP will be expected to accurately diagnose and treat include general cardiology with a focus subspecialized patient populations as indicated.

Skills required of this role will include but may not be limited to the following:

• Utilizes prescriptive authority in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations
• Obtains and documents relevant problem focused or comprehensive history from patient/medical records in a timely manner
• Communicates effectively using appropriate terminology, format, and technology in accordance with health system policies
• Analyzes data to determine health status
• Communicates effectively with other healthcare professionals
• Performs an accurate physical exam
• Demonstrates basic science and up to date clinical knowledge
• Establishes a patient relationship characterized by mutual respect, empathy, and collaboration
• Takes initiative for seeking opportunities to advance knowledge and experiences
• Flexibility with scheduled rotations / locations as needed to ensure patient needs are met

Role duties may include but are not limited to:

• Independent practice in the outpatient clinic setting and collaborating with physician(s) as appropriate
• Ordering and management of appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies

This role may require training and competency for procedures applicable to the department of hire.
