- Education:
- Training and Experience:
- Listed with Texas Department of Nurse Aid Registry (or acquire within 1 year of hire or transfer from another department).
- Current BLS certification required through American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
- Successful completion of hospital orientation within 3 months of hire.
- Complete the following competencies within 3 months of hire or transfer from another department.
- Patient transfers
- Patient transport
- Aseptic technique
- Lab specimens / order entry
- Unit safety
- Body substance isolation
- Role in Code Blue
- Supply processing and ordering
- Stocking of PACU
- Assist with patient admission to PACU
- Ability to perform:
- Heavy lifting
- Sustained standing and walking
- Work under stress
- Varied work hours and shifts
- May encounter exposure to infectious diseases.
