Qualifications

  • Education:

High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Training and Experience:
  • Listed with Texas Department of Nurse Aid Registry (or acquire within 1 year of hire or transfer from another department).
  • Current BLS certification required through American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of hospital orientation within 3 months of hire.
  • Complete the following competencies within 3 months of hire or transfer from another department.
  • Patient transfers
  • Patient transport
  • Aseptic technique
  • Lab specimens / order entry
  • Unit safety
  • Body substance isolation
  • Role in Code Blue
  • Supply processing and ordering
  • Stocking of PACU
  • Assist with patient admission to PACU
