Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Critical Care Nurse at St. Francis Medical Center, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease. 

  • Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort
  • Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families
  • Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e., CNAs) in caring for patients
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices)
  • Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessary
  • Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)
  • Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)

Job Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 5 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 5 months of hire
Where You'll Work

We are a 16 bed ICU that cares for wide variety of critically ill patients with renal, cardiac, pulmonary, neuro, neuro-surgical, endocrine, GI, and surgical conditions. We are a designated stroke center and we care for a diverse population of patients, pulling from multiple areas of the state.
