About the Role:
The Graduate Nurse provides safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care under the direct supervision of an assigned licensed nurse preceptor. This role is designed to support the transition from nursing student to licensed nurse by allowing the graduate nurse to apply learned knowledge and skills in a structured, supportive clinical environment while adhering to hospital policies and professional nursing standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applications will be accepted from nursing students before graduation. Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited LPN or RN nursing program and approaching program completion. Continued employment in the Graduate Nurse role is contingent upon successful graduation and eligibility for licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong foundational knowledge of nursing principles, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Ability to function effectively under supervision in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare technology.
- Demonstrated skills in patient communication and cultural competency.
- Participation in nursing student organizations or community health initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care under supervision, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with daily living activities.
- Collaborate with registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support individualized care plans and discharge planning.
- Document patient information accurately and timely in electronic health records to ensure continuity of care.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition or abnormal findings to the licensed nurse or physician
- Assist with patient and family education about treatment plans, procedures, and health maintenance.
