General Statement of Duties : The Registered Nurse PASS serves as main point of contact for the PASS Program for surgery schedulers, Physicians, and Support Services staff. The position coordinates and evaluates preoperative screening for assigned patients in a timely fashion and establishes a staff friendly, efficient, preoperative process for patients having surgery in OrthoIndy Hospital facilities. Essential Duties : Speaks with patients via telephone to complete preoperative health assessment, including medication, medical and surgical history. Attends to patient needs and gathering complete and appropriate medical information to ensure timely preoperative scheduling. Answers and or follows-up patient questions and concerns. Maintains complete communication with Physician staff regarding PASS Program requests and scheduled appointments. Documents appointments in EMR under surgery scheduling communicating both date of appointments and date clearance received and completed. Provides instruction, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed. Utilizes policy and guidelines to determine additional medical clearance or lab work indicated. Responsible for daily review of requests, faxes, and completed clearances. Reviews complex or unclear medical information with physicians and documents actions taken in EMR. Assists with the coordination of care, initiation of care plans and specific interventions as indicated. Provides oversight, support and collaborates with licensed practical nurses as assigned. Supports other team members which may include providing assistance during an influx of patient volume or based on department need. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Nursing Technician PPOP PACU works under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), preforming a variety of tasks delegated by the RN in order to care for patients. The Nursing Technician completes assigned tasks and reports information about patients to the RN. The Nursing Technician assists with obtaining vitals, and other taught skills as trained by OrthoIndy. Essential Duties: Obtains and reports vital signs and fluid intake and output. Discontinues IV lines and urinary catheters as directed by the Registered Nurse and documents removal. Observes and reports patient conditions and behaviors to the Registered Nurse. Orders linen, café items for patient care. Performs phlebotomy as directed by the Registered Nurse. Performs Urine Pregnancy Tests, and blood sugars for patients as directed by Registered Nurses. Provides skin care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Reinforces patients and family education as directed by the Registered Nurse. Performs EKGs and bladder scans when directed by the Registered Nurse. Transports patients to other units, upon dismissal, and as necessary. Performs Cast Cutting, Ted Hose measurement and application. Requires constant mental alertness to observe signs and symptoms of patient conditions and side effects of medications or technical procedures and responds appropriately to ensure optimal patient care. Delivers direct patient care. Completes treatments and procedures as ordered and/or indicated. Provides care related to personal hygiene, activities of daily living, and comfort measures as indicated. Prepares and administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physicians. Documents all patient care activities in accordance with the standard of care as well as changes in the patient’s condition. Supports patient education and discharge planning. Distributes educational material as appropriate. Completes assigned tasks that facilitate discharge planning. Participates in annual and ongoing training, education and development activities to improve knowledge and skills. Requires knowledge of equipment and supplies. Requirements : Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred from a nationally accredited nursing program Current license as a Registered Nurse with the State of Indiana required Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required 1-2 years of related experience preferred OrthoIndy is an Equal Opportunity Employer
