The RN may work in a variety of settings in the Endoscopy Unit (Riverside Gastroenterology Specialist – Newport News, HSC Gastroenterology, and RRMC) and other roles within Riverside Health System. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Must effectively administer Moderate Sedation, ensure patient safety during monitored anesthesia care, and circulate during general anesthesia cases. Performs emergent and advanced endoscopy at a level II trauma center. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with needs of the specific patient populations, including critical care patients, served in the Endoscopy Unit.
