The Citadel of Northbrook is seeking a Wound Care Nurse RN to join their team! As a Wound Care Nurse RN, you will have the distinctive role that specializes in the care of patients with wounds, ostomies, or continence disorders. You will also provide each resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with each resident’s assessments and care plan and as may be directed by management. Wound Care Nurse RN Duties and Responsibilities: Works with patients who have gastrointestinal stomas for feeding tubes or colostomy bags, skin ulcers, drains, surgical incisions, or pressure sores. Evaluates and provides treatment protocols to ward off skin irritation and infection for wounds that may not heal well, because of other medical problems, such as diabetes or poor circulation. Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary. Implements standards of nursing practice in infection prevention reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and resident population. Assists with the provision of nursing services 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Provides licensed care to assigned residents as ordered by physician and in accordance with facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations Provides required resident assessments/observations and interventions, reviewing care plans to ensure appropriate care. Charts nurses notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident’s response to the care. Monitors and directs non-licensed ancillary services as deemed necessary to meet professional standards and maintain the highest practicable level of resident care Communicate/report information to residents, resident families, physicians, guardians, governmental agencies, and facility personnel as required by facility policy and State/Federal guidelines. Follows and adheres to company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA compliance. All other duties, as assigned. Northwestern Memorial Hospital is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, providing the highest level of stroke care to this patient population. This area of the unit provides care to the stroke patient in the acute phase of their care, accepting patients immediately post TPA or thrombectomy. Our nurses within this area will frequently assess neurological status and continuously monitor patients’ telemetry and pulse oximetry. The Neuro Step Down unit also accepts patients with cerebrospinal fluid drains such as extraventricular drains (EVDs) and lumbar drains. The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is a segment of the larger unit that welcomes electively admitted patients who are monitored and evaluated for seizure events. These patients are monitored on video electroencephalography (vEEG) in a safe, controlled environment. Nurses in this area of the unit are expected to safely and promptly respond, assess, and keep patients safe during these events.
