Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled BHU Registered Nurse to join our team at the JSH Medical Center. This full-time, regular/at-will position is integral to providing high-quality nursing care in accordance with our hospital's policies and procedures. As a BHU Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties that ensure the well-being and safety of our patients. Your role will include administering and recording medication, maintaining IV access, assessing and documenting IV sites, and responding promptly to changes in patient status. You will also be tasked with reporting and implementing changes in the patient's care plan, ensuring that each identified problem is addressed, and maintaining accurate records of medication administration and narcotic use. Your role extends to patient education, where you will report on the progress of the patient's response to the teaching plan and make necessary adjustments. It is crucial that you attend continuing education programs, maintain CPR certifications, and adhere to all required safety education programs. You will operate equipment safely, maintain a clean and organized work area, and demonstrate proper body mechanics in all functions. Professionalism is key, and you will be expected to interact courteously with peers, maintain composure in stressful situations, and communicate effectively using the appropriate chain of command. Confidentiality, a neat appearance, a positive attitude, and support for the hospital's mission and policies are essential. You will be expected to complete work assignments on time, accept additional assignments readily, and maintain punctuality and regular attendance. This role requires a compassionate individual who can foster professional relationships and contribute positively to the hospital's customer service program. 
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: · Physically demanding, high-stress environment · Occasional exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable disease, chemicals, radiation nd repetitive motions · Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients · Manual and finger dexterity · Hand and eye coordination · Sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time · Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds . · Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range · Frequently sitting at desk working on computer · Working irregular hours including call hours · Flexibility on ensuring phone is working condition outside of work hours (staff & patient emergencies) Primary Responsibilities: · Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization · Manage the surgical area operationally by coordinating the OR team with SDS, SPD, PACU (ensuring adequate workflow/communication throughout the day) · Act as a clinical resource for perioperative personnel using current literature and guidelines, organizational policies and procedures, and regulatory and accreditation standards (AORN, MSC POLICIES & PROCEDURES, JSMC COMPLIANCE & CLINICAL POLICIES) · Assist perioperative personnel in the evaluation of current practice through quality and performance improvement activities (in-services, late start meetings, morning huddle) · Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with member of the perioperative team and other stakeholders · Coordinate, facilitate, and manage change within the surgical area (on boarding new equipment/ supplies, EMR updates, etc...) · Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative services to facilitate collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders · Use effective conflict resolution techniques · Collect and analyze data applicable to perioperative personnel selection · Assist in evaluating perioperative personnel performance · Monitor that necessary personnel, equipment and supplies are available (audit expiration dates, assign specials, audit compliance with specials) · Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to surgical team (just in time, corrective actions, enforce engagement of educational opportunities) · Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information
