CORE JOB SUMMARY The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) d elivers medical care to a wide variety of patients. The APRN is also e xamines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals . Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools. Department Specific Functions The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is searching for an Advanced PracticeRegistered Nurse (APRN) to work along the Interventional Cardiology team at UHealth , both in the outpatient and inpatient services. The selected candidate will provide direct clinical care to cardiovascular patients and should ha ve experience in cardiology/ interventional /c ardiac ICU experience and be able to work independently or with minimal supervision. Accountabilities The APRN will work with supervising faculty members to manage all patient medical needs. Complete H&Ps, consent reviews, post-procedure assessments, medication adjustments, and discharge planning for cardiac cath , PCI, and structural heart procedures. Perform daily rounds, review diagnostics (EKGs, labs, imaging), develop care plans, and coordinate with the interventional cardiology attending and multidisciplinary team. Educates and guides patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits Educate patients and families on procedures, medications (e.g., antiplatelet therapy), risk-factor modification, and follow-up care, ensuring continuity between cath lab , clinic , and inpatient settings. Understands the changes in health promotion throughout the aging process T riage in-basket messages, respond to urgent clinical issues, communicate abnormal results, and ensure timely follow-ups to improve patient flow and procedural readiness. May perform those routine medical treatments and diagnostic procedures for which they are qualified to perform by training and which fall within the normal scope of practice of the supervising physician. • Performance of histories and physical exams, pre and postoperative patient care, critical care, daily progress notes, obtain surgical consent, patient education, and discharge summaries. • Patient care in ICU including advanced knowledge of hemodynamic management, ventilators, and artificial cardiac devices. • First assist in surgery in all cardiac, thoracic and vascular procedures.
