Prepares patient for examination by obtaining vital signs proficiently (including manual vital signs when mechanical devices are not available). Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and after patient appointments. Administer medications and vaccines under the supervision of a physician. Assists with processing prescription refill requests for approval and forwarding to pharmacies. Maintains medical inventory of supplies and keep exam rooms stocked appropriately. Keeps any necessary equipment in operating order and facilitating preventive maintenance when needed. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations with scope of practice, HIPAA, and OSHA standards. Completes all required competencies and education to maintain skill level to provide safe patient care. Prepares clinical and progress notes and completes assigned audits and performs electronic or written documentation. Observes signs and symptoms and reports to the physician and registered nurse reactions to treatments, including drugs and changes in the client's physical or emotional condition. Accepts, writes and executes orders; orders are cosigned by RN. Assures that the client/family is involved in implementing the plan of care. Assists in reviewing, collaborating and updating the client plan of care as appropriate. Participates in peer review and QM activities as assigned.
