The 4200 Complex Cardiovascular Unit serves a diverse population, with patients recovering from open-heart surgeries, amputations, lung operations, heart attacks and other critical medical concerns As an LPN, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and 3 holidays per year requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Collect, document and report patient data and observations. Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions. Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions. Perform routine laboratory tests. Educate patients and family members. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: One year of patient care experience Physical Requirements: Requires frequent walking from department to department; requires sitting at a workstation or desk; requires standing; work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs., such as files, documents and computer printouts. Work requires finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level. Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department directors, physicians and other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem-solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers. Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, directing staff and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities. Self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
