The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) helps patients/residents with comprehensive and personalized health care needs under the supervision of a nurse. The CNA assists patients/residents with activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, toileting and exercising. At this facility, this position is collectively bargained under the union. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing or CNA Supervisor, the CNAs work closely with the nursing staff to ensure coordination of patient care. Provides physical support for patients/resident’s daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring to/from bed, toileting, walking, standing, or exercising. Assists patients with daily medication and supplements. Ensures proper resident/patient diet based on their dietary restrictions. Examines patients for open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine. Notes and communicates patient/resident behavior and changes in mood. Cleans rooms and bed linens. Checks and records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Answers to patient calls and needs. All other duties, as assigned. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Qualifications and Skills: Good collaboration and teamwork skills with the nursing staff. Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED. State Certified Nursing Assistant License/Certification. Must be CPR Certified. Physical Requirements: Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required. Must be able to push, pull move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations. Meet all health requirements as needed. Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care to residents and supervises nursing assistants to ensure high-quality care in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Key responsibilities include planning and overseeing daily nursing activities, administering medications, completing required documentation, and maintaining patient confidentiality. The RN also performs professional nursing services such as catheterization, wound care, and IV care, while fostering a warm and collaborative environment. Additionally, the role involves coordinating with physicians, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining effective communication with residents, families, and staff to meet residents' needs. Be able to perform all functions under your active license as it pertains to your assigned duties. Know the residents you serve, providing care based on their care plans and physician orders. Prepare & administer medications as ordered by the physician. Develop & maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift. Receive/give the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Make rounds with physicians as necessary. Assist in all aspects of a resident’s daily life, including activities of daily living, meal service, and social engagement. Appropriately communicate with clinical leadership when a resident’s needs change. Know how to approach and care for residents with dementia. Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) with a current unencumbered state license. Must be knowledgeable of nursing & medical practices & procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities. Experience in Long Term Care is preferred. Willing to take additional training or education, which specific states may require. CPR and First Aid certifications are required. Ability to be flexible and adaptable while handling multiple priorities. Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication. Competent in organizational and time management skills. Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
