Interprets OPH policies and governmental regulations, related to admissions and on-going stay, to residents and responsible parties. Manages OPH admissions process for all referrals. Daily communication with assigned communities to monitor availability of beds, planned admissions, discharges and any barriers or requirements for admissions. Communicate referral status to admissions team and disseminate necessary documents for admission. Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Hawaii required. One (1) year experience coordinating admissions in a healthcare facility. Experience with Medicaid eligibility. Experience in post-acute healthcare setting, clinical assessments, and financial requirements preferred. Primary Purpose: The person in this position is a member of the Patient Centered Health Care Home team where each team member plays an integral role in providing patient-centered health care. S/he is responsible in assisting the provider and the team in the overall coordination, preparation, examination and treatment of the patient. S/he will perform the minimum competency requirement for a medical assistant. SCOPE OF SERVICE The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN provides care for patients recovering from general, regional or local anesthesia. Procedure types include: endoscopy, ENT, gynecology, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, thoracic, urology and vascular. PACU also provides extended recovery care overnight to patients requiring closer observation. Activities vital to the care of post-anesthesia and post-operative patients include: monitoring vital signs, managing postoperative pain, monitoring the surgical site, treating symptoms of postoperative nausea and vomiting, treating post-anesthetic shivering and airway management. PACU RNs often coordinate the delivery of care for post-anesthesia patients following surgical procedures so the safety, physical, psychological and educational needs of the patients and family members are met. The PACU is a 20 bed unit directly adjacent to the Main Operating Room. There is one designated isolation room. PACU cares for patients of all ages. SCOPE OF SERVICE The Queen’s Medical Center Emergency Department (ED) is a 45-bed unit that provides comprehensive emergency medical and nursing services 24 hours a day for patients of all ages. The QMC Emergency Department is designated, by the State of Hawaii, as the Trauma Center for Hawaii and is designated by the American College of Surgeons as the only Level I Trauma Center in the region. QMC is accredited by JCAHO as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The Emergency Department is also the 5th Gold Certified Geriatric Emergency Departments in the nation. A trauma team is available 24 hrs/day, seven-days-a-week, and may be activated by the ER Attending or RN on duty. A separate Fast Track/Mid Track area is opened from 07:00 am to 03:00 am for patients meeting the Fast Track/Mid Track criteria. A Stroke Code protocol may be activated on patients meeting the stroke criteria. The medical center also has a STEMI Code protocol with Cath Lab capabilities. The Psychiatric Residency program provides 24-hour psychiatric consultative services as requested by the Emergency Department physician. Adults constitute 96.6% of patients seen. The remaining 3.4% of the patients are under the age of 18. The top 9 chief complaints include abdominal pain, shortness of breath, chest pain, sepsis, various traumas, psychiatric problems, cold symptoms, headache and weakness. There are three primary treatment areas: Main ER (21 Rooms, not including hallways) - All rooms are equipped with monitoring capability, suction, oxygen, and airway supplies. There are some rooms that also have specialized equipment. A trauma team is available 24 hrs/day, seven-days-a-week, and may be activated by the ER Attending or RN on duty. A separate Fast Track/Mid Track area is opened from 07:00 am to 03:00 am for patients meeting the Fast Track/Mid Track criteria. A Stroke Code protocol may be activated on patients meeting the stroke criteria. The medical center also has a STEMI Code protocol with Cath Lab capabilities. The Psychiatric Residency program provides 24-hour psychiatric consultative services as requested by the Emergency Department physician. Adults constitute 96.6% of patients seen. The remaining 3.4% of the patients are under the age of 18. The top 9 chief complaints include abdominal pain, shortness of breath, chest pain, sepsis, various traumas, psychiatric problems, cold symptoms, headache and weakness. There are three primary treatment areas: Main ER (21 Rooms, not including hallways) - All rooms are equipped with monitoring capability, suction, oxygen, and airway supplies. There are some rooms that also have specialized equipment. SCOPE OF SERVICE Cardiac Invasive Services (CIS/Cath lab) is a 4-procedure room unit specifically designed to perform invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures, including structural heart procedures. Procedures are performed on both inpatients and outpatients who have a cardiovascular condition requiring an invasive procedure. Cardiac Invasive Services regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The unit is closed on weekends and holidays observed by The Queen’s Medical Center. As workload dictates, elective procedures can be performed until 7:00 pm Monday through Friday. All other times are reserved for urgent or emergency procedures and are done by the emergency or on-call team. Cardiac catheterization services are provided to patients who range in age from teenagers to geriatrics. Staffing In addition to the physician performing the procedure room is staffed with 1 Registered Nurse, 1 Cardiovascular Technologist and 1 Radiological Special Procedures Technologist, and 1 Circulator (RN, CVT or RT).
