Promotes throughput for the service by achieving and maintaining medical center expectations for productivity. Provides patient education and feedback to promote health and wellness. Adheres to all medical center policies and procedures and bylaws of the medical staff. Participates in department performance improvement initiatives, collects and aggregates data as needed, works with leadership to develop a plan of correction. Fosters and promotes teamwork with other staff members of the service. Communicates pertinent information to the supervisor of the service. Performs comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and mental examinations, including developmental and functional status determination. Interprets x-rays, with assistance from physician, in order to formulate diagnosis. Interprets lab values with order to correct abnormalities. Evaluates consultations and make concise case presentations to physicians, differentiating normal from abnormal findings, and suggest differential and presumptive diagnosis. Develops a prioritized comprehensive problem list. Documents in the patient’s record all pertinent patient interactions and care. Provides discharge instructions with prescriptions given and follow-up visits arranged. Participates in interdisciplinary quality improvement efforts to improve clinical practice. Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct. Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements. Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. Performs other related duties as required. BASIC COMPETENCIES Education: Graduation from an approved Nurse Practitioner program. Current NJ licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Skills: Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice, extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology. Recognizes and reports malfunction or failure of equipment used in the area to Biomedical Engineering; takes appropriate action to repair/replace such equipment (e.g.,ventilators, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, suction apparatus, pumps, doppler, O2 tank, and pacemaker).
