Job Duties

Completes assessment for new patients admitted to the service, including history and

physical, medication reconciliation, problem list and plan of care.

Performs assessment and plans for ongoing treatment for patients in the service.

Orders lab and diagnostic tests for patients in the service as appropriate to formulate

diagnosis, develop treatment plan.

Reviews results of lab and diagnostic tests and makes adjustment to the treatment plan

accordingly.

Plans a response for follow up for patients with abnormal tests results and intervenes with

patient according to medical center policy and procedure.

Completes employee physicals as assigned.

Assures all entries to the medical record, paper or electronic, are appropriate, timed, dated,

signed and legible.

Promotes throughput for the service by achieving and maintaining medical center

expectations for productivity.

Provides patient education and feedback to promote health and wellness.

Adheres to all medical center policies and procedures and bylaws of the medical staff.

Participates in department performance improvement initiatives, collects and aggregates

data as needed, works with leadership to develop a plan of correction.

Fosters and promotes teamwork with other staff members of the service.

Communicates pertinent information to the supervisor of the service.

Performs comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and mental examinations, including

developmental and functional status determination.

Interprets x-rays, with assistance from physician, in order to formulate diagnosis.

Interprets lab values with order to correct abnormalities.

Evaluates consultations and make concise case presentations to physicians, differentiating

normal from abnormal findings, and suggest differential and presumptive diagnosis.

Develops a prioritized comprehensive problem list.

Documents in the patient’s record all pertinent patient interactions and care.

Provides discharge instructions with prescriptions given and follow-up visits arranged.

Participates in interdisciplinary quality improvement efforts to improve clinical practice.

Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.

Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.

Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant

attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and

respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

Participates in continuing education activities; attends scheduled inservice programs; shares information

gained at conferences with colleagues.

Performs other related duties as required.

BASIC COMPETENCIES

Education:

Graduation from an approved Nurse Practitioner program.

Current NJ licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner.

BLS certification required.

Experience:

2 years of related clinical nursing experience preferred.

Skills:

Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice, extensive knowledge of physical assessment,

differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Good interpersonal communication skills.

Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.

Salary commensurate with experience within posted range.

$68.14-$84.60 / Hour $1.00 more for doctorate & 2% more for Acute or Psych Certification
