Day - 08 Hour (United States of America) This is a Stanford Health Care job. A Brief Overview The Oncology Research Nursing Professional (ORNP) –is a Registered Nurse (RN) who works collaboratively with Clinical Research Staff including, but not limited to Physicians, Clinical Research Associates (CRA), APPs, Clinical Nurses, Pharmacists, and clinic staff to coordinate care for an assigned population of patients who are enrolled into cancer center clinical research trials. As the research expert of the multi-disciplinary team, the ORNP works independently and is accountable for the accurate conduct of their assigned cancer research protocol portfolio. Primary activities include educating the multi-disciplinary team on the protocol, setting up the operational workflows and ensuring the conduct of the research in adherence of good clinical practices. The ORNP works with the PIs on the assessment, management, and coordination of research patient care across the continuum of care (outpatient, inpatient and home) including triage of phone calls and proactive patient communication. The Oncology Research Nurse Professional –serves to educate patients and families on the clinical trial treatments, required testing, and protocol specific visits and expectations. Serves as lead for the disease center research portfolio and works with the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRCs) on the implementation, coordination, and documentation of trial specific requirements in alignment with all clinical trial and operational requirements. Provides system leadership in the establishment and oversight credentialing/privileging policies for nurses and ensures compliance with such policies for nurses who seek to practice and who practice at UCSF Health. Create innovative models of nursing including remote virtual intakes and discharges, etc. Quality and Safety Articulates the health system vision and priorities and is accountable for outcomes for patient care quality and safety in collaboration with the Vice President of Quality and other health system leaders. Directs compliance programs to ensure provision of highest quality services in an efficient, cost-effective manner and within internal and external regulations. In conjunction with Entity & Business Unit leadership, accountable for the design, implementation and systems for UCSF Health patient care policies and procedures to assure continuity and consistency of care delivery. Assures that the Health System patient care delivery model(s), clinical and staffing standards for nursing and patient care are consistent with current research and professional standards and with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Accountable for the structures and processes that support the infrastructure for nursing and clinical research across UCSF (coordinated with the Dean, School of Nursing and Dean, Medical School, Business Units). Financial Strength Provides strategic direction regarding centralized use of temporary services that provide nursing care; negotiates, monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of agency contractual agreements. In conjunction with other UCSF Health Executive & Business Unit leadership, participates in strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs and services, assuring appropriate resources for the delivery of care. Ensures appropriate nurse staffing for all services within the health system and addresses top of license gaps within any department or unit. Strategic Growth Identifies and articulates the vision and strategic direction for the delivery of patient care and the discipline of Nursing across all patient care settings for UCSF Health and its clinical affiliates; directs and collaborates on the implementation of strategies to achieve them. Leadership and Learning Ensures Magnet designation for UCSF Medical Center and will assist other CNOs (Children’s, LPPHC) in attaining Magnet designation. Liaises with UCSF School of Nursing and participates in and supports clinical teaching and research activities of the UCSF faculty and staff. Chairs the Committee on Interdisciplinary Practice. Change management skills to transition the organization from a current state to a future state with the least amount of resistance. Expertise in evaluating the organization issues, initiating actions to make change, planning change with stakeholder buy-in and executing the plan while being flexible to the changing landscape. Collaborative leadership skills to function in a highly complex and matrixed organizational environment, demonstrates expert skill in building collaborative relationships, developing strategies and engaging in constructive problem-solving. Relationship building skills to develop outstanding relationships at all levels of the organization in an environment that is managed through influence and relationships. Expertise in all aspects of assigned functions, as well as development and management of operational and capital budgets. Sets high standards of behavior, performance, quality, credibility, and integrity; exhibits judgment and business acumen necessary to raise performance to levels that would not otherwise be achieved. Demonstrated understanding of the roles of teaching, research and patient care in the academic medical center and active participation in improvements relevant to each mission.
