The emergency department staff also respond and support emergencies such as cardiac arrest, stroke, respiratory failure or patient instability for the inpatient units of the hospital. The Registered Nurse - Acute Care role provides high quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Collaborates, delegates, and communicates with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal care. The responsibilities in this role for the selected candidate would be managing our IV antibiotic monitoring program, administering travel vaccines to our world traveling patients, assist with the patient discharge lists for multiple hospitals, performing prior authorizations along with medication refills and ensuring our community of patients are well taken care of. We see patients for all sorts of diagnosis such as STI/HIV, bone infections, chronic UTI's, or just a surgery wound that won't heal. Between our traveling patients and different type of wounds/infections, it keeps it interesting. We have two locations, one in South Portland and one in Biddeford, so there could be opportunities to work at both locations if interested. This is a full-time (40 hours), benefited position. This is a highly motivated team with the expectation of Inpatient OB RNC two years after hire.Our team enjoys 12 hour shifts and an every 3rdweekend coverage rotation. This is a full time night shift opportunity consisting of 3, 12 hour shifts per week. In accordance with national standards of nursing practice and within the guidelines and policies and procedures of both Maine Medical Center and the Maine State Board of Nursing, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of the effects of nursing care. Care delivery and coordination of patient and family care begins with the initial contact with the health care system and may continue across the continuum. Services may be provided on an inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and/or community basis. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education per year License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine. Certification in relevant specialty preferred. Experience: At least 1 year prior RN work experience. Prior cardiac telemetry, OR or ER experience preferred. Prior perinatal care experience strongly preferred. Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients’ conditions and to initiate appropriate action. Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families and to initiate appropriate action. Demonstrates a caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment for patients and families. Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit. Description The Maine Health Adult Specialty Care Clinic is seeking a part-time (24 hours per week) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate/Physician Assistant to join its outstanding care team in Portland, Maine. The Adult Specialty Care Clinic (also known as Gilman Clinic) cares for patients living with HIV, Hepatitis, Cirrhosis, and Advanced Liver Disease. This position will focus on the care of patients with a wide range of liver diseases, including Hepatitis, Cirrhosis, Fatty Liver Disease, NASH, and other conditions. Duties will include patient triage, patient education, and clinical assessment and treatment. In collaboration with two Board Certified Hepatologists, this Advanced Practice Professional will benefit from ongoing professional education, a dynamic and multidisciplinary care team, and a rewarding work environment where teamwork is valued and appreciated.
