As the Medical Assistant, you assist members with checking in, demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of self-insured employer health insurance, including copays, co-insurance, and related benefits. Performs other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited medical assistant or surgical technician program. Minimum of 2 years comparable clinical back office medical assistant experience. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required. Preferred Qualifications Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft products. Reading, writing, and excellent oral proficiency in the English language. Strong organizational and follow-through skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High level of ownership, accountability and initiative. Our department has a strong relationship with the board-certified Emergency Room Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. We are a STEMI and stroke certified Emergency Department. Our patient population ranges from neonatal to geriatric and we care for all complaints. We see many high acuity patients with about a 33% admission rate. This is a desirable department as we see a high number of acute patients, but this environment is also very high-stress and high-emotion. It is imperative that our nurses have a great attitude, strong work ethic and most importantly have compassion to care for those who have entrusted us to take care of them.
