Key Functions The Outpatient MA must possess the following abilities and/or characteristics: Ability to assist with multiple clinic operational activities, while in collaboration with clinical nurse, thoracic medical oncologist, thoracic surgeons, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), residents, and other multidisciplinary team members. The MA must be able to follow instructions, practice independently, while establishing and maintaining positive cooperative working relationships, flexibility, interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and self-motivation. Specific competencies include: Prepare clinics for the day; stock and prepare exam rooms; assist with pre and post-surgical patient supplies; assist with procedural setup; effective interaction with electronic health records; assist with patient administrative documents; obtain patient vital signs; accurate entry of patient information in medical record while providing rooming documentation support; notification of abnormal parameters to the clinical nurse; safely escort and transport patients in wheelchairs/stretchers; clean, store, prepare, coordinate and report any equipment in need of repair/maintenance; audit and maintain inventory of medical supplies; other duties assigned.
