Unit Staff Provides Care For Patients Who Experience Traumas/Orthopedic Injuries (motor vehicle accidents, fractures, skeletal traction, etc.) Reconstructive joint surgery (hip, knee, shoulder) Osteosarcoma removal and reconstruction Spine surgery Hand surgery Foot and Ankle surgery Amputations Sports injuries Young adult hip preservation procedures Characteristic Duties of our Staff Nurses include but are not limited to: Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Positions in this job family usually have limited involvement in direct patient care and focus their efforts in planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving health care operations, clinical education programs and research programs of clinical and health service departments. The Vascular and Neuroscience Intermediate and Acute Care Unit (2 RCP) is a 34-bed intermediate acute care unit specializing in comprehensive, head-to-toe, compassionate care for adult neurology, neurosurgical, and vascular surgery patients. These patients may need telemetry or intensive neurological monitoring or both. We Provides Care For Patients With The Following Conditions Neuro – stroke General neurology Neurointerventional radiology (neuro IR) Vascular specialties Key Areas of Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: Hire, develop and manage the performance of staff in perioperative setting. Responsible for talent management of staff and identify succession plan strategies. Follow and apply leave management policies. Knowledgeable of and implement human resources policies/procedures and provisions in the collective bargaining agreements Prepare budget or assist in development; provide projections and recommendations. Monitor and maintain unit/clinic operating budget within specified targets. Analyze variances and create action plans to take corrective action. Understand financial implications of collective bargaining agreements Provide leadership to establish and/or maintain efficient and effective systems to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Identify trends and determine quality initiatives and priorities Allocate resources to meet quality and productivity expectations. Review patient satisfaction data and develop, implement, and evaluate plan(s) to enhance patient satisfaction. Ensure unit/clinic is survey ready Assess care coordination within multidisciplinary team to maximize patient satisfaction and continuity of care. Identify needs, trends, and forecasts in order to provide quality patient care and ensure appropriate flex staffing Develop action plans for the unit/clinic or division that meets health care strategic goals Monitor/evaluate goal implementation and provide progress reports to nursing leadership Advocate for needs of unit/clinic with healthcare leaders. Facilitate multidisciplinary participation in clinical problem solving. Utilize unit councils to identify opportunities for improvement and innovative models of care using a multidisciplinary team to impact patient outcomes Educate and mentor staff in the management of complex patient care issues. Provide clinical education and coaching to develop staff competency and professionalism. Participate in and support education of health care students Encourage staff to participate in evidence-based practice research initiatives and incorporate best practices into unit operations Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals from varied cultures, nationalities, genders, ages, etc Ability to utilize existing resources and learning to achieve or exceed desired outcomes of current and future organizational goals/needs. Preferred Master's degree (in nursing, MBA or healthcare related) or Doctorate (DNP, PhD). If candidate does not have a Master's Degree they will be strongly encouraged to obtain one within 5 years of starting position Current license to practice nursing in Iowa Experience Qualifications 3+ years of nursing leadership and management experience Demonstrated skill in leadership/management Current experience in intermediate or critical care clinical practice. 3-5 years of experience is preferred Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required Must be proficient in computer software applications Certification in a role or specialty through a nationally recognized professional nursing certification body.
