Performs pre-anesthetic and post anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient and documents findings. * This includes obtaining an informed consent from the patient, requesting consultations and /or diagnostic studies and ordering pre-anesthetic medications. * Select, apply and insert appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities for continuous evaluation of the patient’s physical status. * Preceptor to SRNA students Participates in the program of continuous quality improvement and a variety of other CRNA functions. * Works with staff from other departments in OR for training purposes including transport nurses as well as residents * Works with Anesthesia Pain team to manage postoperative pain * Provides airway management and/or intubations for emergent, and non-emergent and resuscitation situations throughout the hospital as well as IV placements * Provides professional feedback regarding anesthesia issues affecting patient care, department goals, and the hospital vision to Anesthesia department leadership * Works with Nursing Leadership in the performance oversight of anesthesia techs as well as orientation and education * Checks all equipment and agents to be used in the administration of the anesthetic to be sure it is in safe working order.
