Job Description Position Summary: The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting physicians, PA, or NP with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care, and procedures. Essential Job Functions: Prepares the examination room. Escorts patient into the room. Cleans examination room when the exam is complete. Maintains efficient patient flow. Ensures proper preparation for patient visits. Prepares pertinent information needed for patient visits. Communicates & provides care consistent with the age, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of the patient. Answers the telephone in an appropriate manner. Directs calls and/or takes accurate messages. Schedules appointments accurately and appropriately according to departmental guidelines. Consistently and accurately stocks examination rooms with all necessary supplies. Assists in ordering and maintaining all supplies as assigned. Reconciles encounters daily and accurately, according to policy guidelines. Effectively communicates problems, concerns, or issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager appropriately and promptly. Understands and performs within the scope of practice. Obtains vital signs: BP, temp, pulse, height & weight accurately and completely as required. Documents appropriately in EHR. Reviews and updates medication list and accurately documents knew allergies in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Demonstrates an understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures. Accurately documents allergies in EHR. Employs appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR. Appropriately enters orders and schedules appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR. Provides referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR. Appropriately adheres to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste. Maintains proficiency with department specific equipment, troubleshoot, and reports malfunctions promptly Facilitates transition of care to UCC/Hospital Demonstrates flexibility with various work schedules. All other duties as assigned Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned. Provide scribing services. Associate Degree’s preferred. 0-1 year related work experience, required. 2-4 years related work experience, preferred. Medical Assistant certification, required Basic Life Support (BLS) or within 30 days of hire, required Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, required Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner, required Basic proficiency in computer use, required Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed, required Travel: Travel to satellite locations as needed Pay Range: $22.02 - $27.07 Hourly The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position. Pay rates range from $45.60 - $48.00 per hour plus shift differentials where applicable! Pay rates range per hour based on employment status, site needs, licensure, and experience. As a Correctional Registered Nurse (RN ), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. Qualifications Experience / Requirements / Qualifications Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the State oj New Jersey Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred) Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Able to work independently and in a team Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening Physical Capabilities: Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
