Job Summary and Qualifications The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. What you will do in this role: Demonstrates knowledge, skill and competence in the management of patients in the different stages of labor; ability to identify the normal physiologic adaptations that occur during each stage. Demonstrates knowledge, skill and competence in the management of patients with complications of pregnancy. Demonstrates knowledge, skill and competence in the management of high risk pregnancy patients. Clinical nursing practice reflects competency in: use of external and fetal monitors, use of Doppler, IV insertion and maintenance, vaginal examination, infant security, blood product administration, EMTALA screening, and sterile technique. Will accomplish and remain AWHONN certified: registered nurse with no experience-1 year after hire date /registered nurse with L&D experience-6 months after hire date. Demonstrates competency in the use of CPN system for documentation. Demonstrates competency in the management of immediate postpartum patients. Demonstrates competency to circulate for cesarean sections in the OR. Responsible for completing educational requirements and complying with policies and procedures in regard to safety guidelines established by OSHA, JCAHO and other state and federal regulatory agencies. Consistently demonstrates the ability to provide appropriate services and care in accordance with the unique needs inherent to patient’s age and culture. Actively participates in solving problems on the unit to improve process issues as well as patient flow. Supports departmental and hospital performance improvement initiatives.
