Attends and participates in the unit activities such as therapy groups, family meetings as appropriate, staffing, unit meetings, etc. · Provides education/explanation to patients, families, and co-workers regarding medication usage/maintenance, common side effects, patient's rights, as well as other topics necessary for optimal patient care. · Monitors patient acuity, census, staffing needs, and makes arrangements for coverage as needed, following established guidelines. · Assures thorough, accurate documentation is completed for all patients on each shift and patient assignment sheets are completed daily and tasks are carried out as assigned. · Gives thorough report to oncoming staff, supervisors, and physician. · Provides coverage in emergency services as needed. Job Summary and Qualifications What you will do in this role: Demonstrates airway management skills: respiratory and ventilator management with acid base balance evaluation. Understands Arterial Blood Gases and their interpretation. Possesses and demonstrates working knowledge of anesthetic agents and adjuncts, sedation, analgesia, assessment and monitoring. Possesses knowledge and demonstrates appropriate interventions related to thermoregulation and malignant hyperthermia. Displays knowledge of pain and comfort management measures and uses them appropriately; PONV/PDNV management. Displays ability to interpret ECGs and possesses working knowledge of cardiac pharmacology. Demonstrates competence in physiological systems review assessment, neurologic assessment. Surgery specific –understands operative care, to include assessments and potential complications. Takes appropriate safety and infection control measures at all times. Has working knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation.
